Steampunk Robot
Another jug in my "Steampunk" series.
#155 of the last 1000 Major Jugs By a lifetime Potter/Sculptor.
FOR SALE on Ebay
Nikola Tesla was an electrical genius., inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, physicist, and futurist best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current (AC) electrical supply system. He made countless discoveries and performed thousands of experiments with electricity. His experiments were pretty spectacular and were the basis for the "Mad Scientist" laboratories seen in early movies. Imagine Frankenstein's lab without all the scary sparks from a Tesla Coil.
This jug is my salute to a great scientist. I love all the mysterious gadgets associated with Tesla.
I have spent the last 40 years as a potter and metal sculptor. This blog is to share my work and thoughts with all who are interested.

A Pox On The Devil
Raku Fired Stoneware.
#150 of the last 1000 Major Jugs By a lifetime Potter/Sculptor.
This old Devil has a helluva complexion. The glaze on his head was supposed to be a smooth red but it took one look at his hateful demeanor and cratered like lava. I'll bet that I can never get that effect again . His head lifts off and is a giant stopper. This jug is quite tall (18"). His teeth are made of small nails that are set in the clay before firing.

Raku Rumble
Spent a great weekend, with old and new friends, making lots of smoke and fire at The Raku Rumble during the Dia de los Muertos Festival and Fall Art Walk in Denison Texas. It was great fun. Thanks to our gracious hosts at The Denison Arts Council and all the volunteers who made it happen.

DRY
He has had all of the drought that he can take. He's cracked, parched and looking for a way to turn on the faucet. I made him in 2009. After bisquing I sat him on the top shelf in my patio/kiln room to await glazing. Wren's built a nest in him and have used him to raise several broods ever since. They finally decided to build elsewhere this summer so I could have him back and finally raku fire him. He is signed and dated 2009 but was just finished today.
