So, what do you do when your garden gives you Tomatoes, Tomatillos, Garlic, Peppers, Onions, Basil, Celantro and Parsley? Add a Lemon and ...MAKE THE BEST SALSA ON THE PLANET!

Caution! If you try this Salsa you will feel compelled to drive to the nearest Super Market and throw rocks at the commercial Salsas.

Eating (Really) Local

Eating locally grown and produced food is good for the environment and good for the local farmer or producer.  The dinner pictured below is extremely local. I caught the Catfish about 1/2 mile from home. We grew the Tomatoes, Beans and Herbs used to prepare it.

Hickory-smoked Teryaki Catfish was marinated overnight in a homemade Teryaki sauce
 then grilled until flaky.

It tastes even better than it looks.

Fresh caught Catfish, home-grown Tomatoes and Green Beans.

Solar baked Banana Bread for desert. It doesn't get any better than this!

Fired Up The Solar Oven Today

I cleaned up the solar oven, that I built from scrap last year, and roasted the last of this springs Yukon Gold Potatoes. They came out great. I had forgotten how amazingly well the oven works

Here are some links to some of the food we cooked last year.

"OWWW!! I Bit My Tongue!"

"OWW! OWW! Ah bih mah hung!
Ah bih mah hung an ih woh hop bweedin
Oh kwap! Son of a B#%**!"

This old warrior might have had a taste for blood, but probably not his own.

It's a little known fact that the number one injury, among Face Jugs, is bitten tongues. With all those sharp teeth and big tongues it is bound to happen.
Now you know why they always look so crazed and angry.
